Week 4 - Nate

I’m cheating a bit this week – I didn’t take any of these recently. This is the culmination of a project Nila and I worked on for a little over a year and finished this past December. We printed and framed Henderson for us and my parents, Holmquist for hers and Nelson for Maria & Jon and gave them out as Christmas presents. We have ours hung above the front door and it looks great.

Week 04 - Jordan

One of my favorite things we saw in Seattle was the EMP Museum and especially the Battlestar Galactica exhibit inside. It was just really fun seeing props and set pieces from a show I watched growing up (thanks, Dad!) and the newer series more recently. I'm sad that the exhibit is ending, but the one that will be replacing it sounds pretty neat, too.

Week 3 - Nate

My grandparents were in town this weekend. They haven’t seen Sarah since we were in the hospital; it was really special to see her with her great-grandparents and get to take some pictures this time. I love the contrast of their hands in this shot.

Week 03 - Jordan

I traveled to Seattle this week for work and for an extra day to see the sights. Unfortunately for my work plans, it snowed pretty good that entire week, essentially shutting down the city. I poked plenty of fun at my team members out there, but safe is certainly better than sorry. So, here's Microsoft's buildings 40 and 41, where I was working. Week 02 - Jordan

My friend David and I will be putting on an informal "Flash 101" workshop in a few weeks, so we got together to practice a few things. David gave me permission to use a photo of him where, as he said, he didn't look like a "goober". So, here's this. We were trying things out in my living room, which, after moving all the furniture, did not leave us with a ton of working space. David had to sit pretty close to the backdrop, which is why there's a shadow on it behind him. I shot this with two softboxes stacked on each other, with my lens in between them. It's an interesting effect (to me) because of how it fills otherwise shadowy areas.

Week 2 - Nate

For Christmas, my parents got me a set of extension tubes so I can finally try my hand at some macro photography. It took me a couple weeks of practice but I really think I’m going to like it :)

Week 1 - Nate

With a newborn, Christmas was a little crazy for us this year. We missed Maria, Jon and Grace at the Holmquist family Christmas so they stopped by this week to exchange gifts. Grace went through a phase from about 3 months until now where she hated my camera… but that seems to have changed with the new year.

Week 01 - Jordan

Like I said, lots of niece photos! New Year's Eve, we did a very impromptu shoot at a friend's house. Did a few quick "one-month" shots of my niece and brother/sis-in-law and then a couple friends were there with their son, so I did a few of them, too.

Week 52 - Nate

Back to the studio this week. Sarah was the perfect subject and let us take several photos in different poses. Once those were done, we had Elizabeth take some of us. I just love this one of Nila and Sarah.

Week 52 - Jordan

I have...a few...photos from Christmas, but the majority of that (probably?) was taking pictures of my new niece. She's pretty cute. Happy New Year :-)
