We took a short trip to Lincoln last week to see friends and Nila’s grandparents. Katie was kind enough to let us stay with her at this awesome house she’s taking care of.  Just out back there was a pretty little spot with a hammock that the morning sun hit just right.

Monica Catherine was born this week. Maureen and Shaw agreed to be guinea pigs for our first solo newborn shoot. All told, I thought it went really well. We got several great shots and learned a ton. This one is my favorite – the rest are here.

Week 31 - Jordan

My brother, sister-in-law, sister, and niece came up to visit us this weekend and we tried to do a 8/9-month photo shoot with my niece. As I'm sure Nate knows, when dealing with a little one that young, things don't always go as planned. Four or five shots and then things break down for a bit. At least it was a really nice day. :-)

Happy Fourth of July! My in-laws came to visit this week, so I have quite a few photos from a car show we stopped by to see. Otherwise, we watched the local fireworks show from a distance and I tried to get some decent photos of it.

It's getting to be "kitten season" at the Humane Society. They're quite full on dogs on cats, but in cooperation with other local rescues, have an amazing no-kill year going. (The local pounds ARE kill shelters, but the rescues like the Humane Society are NOT, and pull the animals they have from the pounds.)

Week 25 - Nate

We’re on vacation this week in Breckenridge, Colorado with Nila’s family. One of our activities was a cattle drive. I was a bit nervous having only ridden a couple times before (and not since our honeymoon) but we had a blast. We would highly recommend if you’re ever in the area.

Another shot from our Nebraska trip. We stayed with my parents out in the country, which means dark nights and hopefully clear skies. I decided to try out shooting the stars while we were there and just lucked into having the Milky Way sitting right where I was shooting.
